Ben Brenman Park

Watering a newly planted tree.

Volunteers water a tree they planted last spring in Ben Brenman Park. The area is a former military site and needs dozens more trees to help stem the flow of stormwater runoff into nearby Holmes Run. It is fringed by invasive Callery pear trees: They look pretty but smell terrible and outcompete native trees for space and nutrients.
