Cars finally supporting Trees!

Finally, a license plate for tree lovers

Trees Virginia has been working with the urban forestry faculty at Virginia Tech to develop a new publicoutreach initiative — the VirginiaLoves Trees specialty license plate. The Virginia Tech Urban ForestryProgram team of Dr. Eric Wiseman and Dr. Susan Day has overseen the design of thenew license plate and accompanying website.
The first step in the process of official adoption of a new licenseplate design by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is achieving a pre-salequota of 450 plates.

If you are interested in this new plate, please visit the Virginia Loves Trees website (www.valovestrees.org) to apply for and pre-purchase the new license plate. Once the quota is met,General Assembly Sponsor Delegate Joe Johnson (D) – 4thDistrict, will submit a Bill to the General Assembly early in the 2012 Sessionto authorize adoption of the license plate by the DMV.

Trees Virginia sees this as an excellentopportunity to raise awareness of landscape trees and urban forests among Virginia’scitizens.
