Tree Stewards Partner With TD Bank For More Tree Planting

TD Planting Day

TD Bank employees and Tree Stewards planted 30 trees at Tarleton Park on October 15, 2013

Tree Steward volunteers will be joined by employees from TD Bank on Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, at Dora Kelly Nature Park in Alexandria to participate in TD Tree Days, a cooperative effort to plant new trees in local communities in need.

Volunteers will plant over 30 trees at Chambliss Crossing in Dora Kelly Nature Park. This location lost tree canopy during the restoration of the bridge over Holmes Run.

“This is a fantastic project for Tree Stewards! Not only do we get to help reforest an important part of the ecosystem along Holmes Parkway, but we also get to share our knowledge of trees with the committed TD Bank volunteers,” said Tree Steward President Kate Donohue.

As a component of TD Forests, the bank’s environmental initiative to expand urban forestry throughout the footprint and enhance community and economic development, TD Bank will partner with various community organizations for TD Tree Days. The tree planting events will take place throughout October in communities in need. The trees planted will provide health, environmental and recreational benefits, including improved air quality, shade for buildings and can help mitigate the effects of climate change.

“TD Bank is proud to partner with Tree Stewards to create greener open spaces in Alexandria, Virginia,” said Joe Doolan, U.S. Head of Environmental Affairs for TD Bank. “As an environmental leader, TD Bank focuses on areas where we can make the most impact and strengthen the physical and human fabric of our communities. We are thrilled that so many volunteers will be providing support for our local parks and opens spaces where we live and work.”

TD Tree Days events will take place in October 2016 in the following cities: Hartford, Conn.; Bronx, N.Y.; Auburn, Maine; Boston; Bound Brook, N.J.; St Louis Park, Minn.; Alexandria, Va.; Miami; Charleston, S.C.; Orlando, Fla.; Portland, Maine; Philadelphia; Camden, N.J.; Detroit; Darby, Pa.; Jersey City, N.J.; Jacksonville, Fla.; Trenton, N.J.; Asheville, N.C.; Greenville, S.C.; Gloucester City, N.J.; Tampa, Fla.; Myrtle Beach, S.C.
